About the couple

Kate and Brian met in high school, and dated on and off through college though they went to different schools. They kept in touch, and when Brian moved to San Francisco, Kate followed. After a year of living apart in San Francisco, they reconnected and have been together ever since. Kate recently obtained her  MBA in Sustainable Enterprise. In January of this year, she launched her green wedding consulting site, Emerald Weddings, which she was inspired to create after learning how much waste is generated by traditional weddings. Brian is currently finishing his undergraduate degree in  Environmental Science.

The Decision to Go Green

Given their educational backgrounds, the decision to go green for their wedding seemed natural. “The state of the environment and our world is incredibly  important to both of us, and we know every decision we make has an impact on our natural world,” Kate says.
