Amy and Mark were married July 11, 2009 in Thornton, NH.

About the Couple:

Amy and Mark met the summer of 2003 at a pool party thrown by Mark's brother, and it was love at first sight. Both very active people, they got to know each other through hiking, backpacking, motorcycle rides, going to the beach, kayaking, outdoor events, and “anything else we could come up with that brought us into the outside world,” the bride tells us. At the time they met, both were finishing up college degrees, so they took advantage of any free time they had on the weekends.

Today, Mark is a civil engineer who earns a living by specializing in wastewater and water improvement projects for Interstate Water and Wastewater Specialists, and Amy is an Environmental Scientist. She works as a regional sales manager in NH, VT, and ME for the Hach Company which specializes in the manufacturing of water quality and water analysis instrumentation and products.

Decision to Go Green:

It was very important to the couple that they have a sustainable wedding. Amy notes, “I have attended and been a part of over 25 weddings and always felt like there was a lot of waste involved with [them].” Amy has been a vegetarian for almost 20 years for environmental reasons and tries to “make every effort to tread lightly on the environment that I love so much.” The couple also wanted to be able to share their love of New Hampshire with their guests and “give them a glimpse of what the White Mountains are really all about.”
